Record-making Nigerian forward named USL Championship Player of the Week

San Antonio FC’s Tanitoluwa ‘Tani’ Oluwaseyi has been bestowed with the prestigious award of USL Championship Player of the Week, Soccernet.ng reports.

Oluwaseyi’s exceptional performance has earned him a place in the league’s Team of the Week alongside teammates Jorge Hernandez, Mitchell Taintor, and Jordan Farr.

Together, this formidable group contributed to a resounding 4-0 victory over Memphis 901 FC, showcasing their prowess with four goals, two assists, and a clean sheet.

In an outstanding display, Oluwaseyi registered his second hat trick of the season, etching his name into San Antonio FC’s history as the first player ever to achieve multiple hat tricks in a single campaign.

All three goals were masterfully scored in the first half, propelling his season tally to an impressive nine goals, just one shy of the league’s top scorer.

Oluwaseyi’s exceptional performances have not gone unnoticed, as this marks his third appearance on the USL Championship Team of the Week since joining the squad in May.

Alongside him, Hernandez, Taintor, and Farr have also earned well-deserved spots on this esteemed list. Notably, this is a season-best for SAFC, with players represented in each position.

Born in Abuja but raised in Canada, Oluwaseyi is currently on loan at San Antonio from Minnesota, with his loan deal set to expire in November.

SAFC will be back in action on Wednesday, embarking on a thrilling Copa Tejas encounter against Locomotive FC as they continue their pursuit of success in the league.
