There has been a lot of controversies surrounding the Super Falcons team recently, but they put that aside as they destroyed an Australian side
The Super Falcons of Nigeria have defeated Australian Queensland NPL side Lions FC 8-1 in a World Cup preparatory game, Soccernet reports.
Nigeria are serious underdog going into the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, but the recent controversies surrounding the team and the NFF have further reduced their chances.
In fact, there were talks that the players had plans to boycott their opening World Cup game against Canada. However, captain Onome Ebi put those talks to bed.
The Super Falcons were engaged in a friendly game against Lions FC on Saturday, and they defeated them 8-1.
Goals from Asisat Oshoala (2), Ifeoma Onumonu, Toni Payne, Rasheedat Ajibade, Halimatu Ayinde, Uchenna Kanu, and Gift Monday secured the win for Nigeria.
The team will keep preparing for the World Cup in their Australia camp. Their first game is on the 21st of July. As such, coach Randy Waldrum would be putting the finishing touches to his preparation.
