#FIFAWWC: Top five Super Falcons players to count on against Canada

The Super Falcons of Nigeria are scheduled to face Canada on Friday for the opening 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Group B clash.

Randy Waldrum’s girls are locked with a tight tie in their Group B clash against Olympic champions, Canada at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.

Nigeria will rely on several key players to significantly impact the pitch and secure a favourable result against the formidable Canadian team.

Although, they face a big blow as they will be without the services of key players Rasheedat Ajibade and Halimat Ayinde, who are both suspended for the upcoming match.

However, Soccernet.ng highlights five Super Falcons players to count on in this crucial match

Asisat Oshoala

Asisat Oshoala is a prolific forward known for her strength and clinical finishing. With her wealth of experience playing for top clubs like FC Barcelona, Oshoala’s goal-scoring prowess will be crucial in breaking down Canada’s strong defense.

Gift Monday

Gift, a skilled striker, possesses excellent technical abilities and a keen eye for goal. Her attacking prowess and ability to create scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates make her a valuable asset in Nigeria’s quest for victory.

Ashleigh Plumptre

As a reliable centre-back,  Plumptre’s defensive capabilities will be vital in thwarting Canada’s attacking threats. Having made her senior Nigeria debut in 2022, Plumptre brings composure and organization to the backline.

Desire Oparanozie

Oparanozie adds experience and physicality to the Super Falcons’ frontline as a seasoned forward. With her strength and goal-scoring instincts, Oparanozie will be a potent offensive force against Canada.

Toni Payne

As a midfielder and forward, Payne’s versatility and creativity will be crucial in linking defense to attack. Her ability to dictate play and contribute both defensively and offensively makes her an essential player for the Super Falcons.
