#FIFAWWC: Super Eagles boss sends message to Super Falcons

The Super Falcons are set to fly at the World Cup, and Peseiro is hoping for the best

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has wished the Super Falcons good luck ahead of their first game of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Soccernet reports.

Nigeria have been drawn in Group B of the FIFA World Cup alongside Canada, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland.

The Super Falcons, who are perennial rulers of African football, have often struggled to make a mark on the world stage.

Their best finish was in 1999 when they reached the quarterfinals of the Mundial. Since then, they have never made it past the round of 16.

This year, they are underdogs in their group as they are the worst placed team in Group B. Canada are 7th, Australia 10th, the Republic of Ireland 22nd, and Nigeria are 40th.

Nonetheless, coach Randy Waldrum and his ladies would look to cause an upset and make a mark.

Nigeria male team coach Peseiro despite being from Portugal, is solidly behind the Falcons.

“Good luck to the Super Falcons, who will be representing Nigeria in the Women’s World Cup. Make us proud!, the 63-year-old tactician said via his Twitter page.

The Super Falcons will begin their World Cup journey on Friday with a game against Canada in Melbourne.
