‘Every chance’- Sevilla’s Toni Payne sends powerful message to the Matildas ahead of Super Falcons Women’s World Cup clash

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will play their second game of this year’s Women’s World Cup against Australia in Brisbane on Thursday

Super Falcons midfielder Toni Payne says the team will be targeting maximum points against Australia in Brisbane on Thursday, Soccernet.ng reports

Last Friday, the Super Falcons began their campaign at the tournament with a goalless draw against Olympics champions Canada.

Australia, meanwhile, claimed maximum points after a slim 1-0 victory over European debutants the Republic of Ireland.

The two footballing nations are now set to clash in Brisbane on Thursday, with a victory for the Falcons will be a big step towards securing a place in the competition’s knockout stages.

Speaking ahead of the vital duel between the two countries on Thursday, Payne said the Falcons will be ambitious towards securing a victory against the Matildas, and also declared they are embarking on an attacking-minded approach.

I think we played a really good defensive game against Canada, and I think I expect us to have the same performance against Australia. I think l expect us to have more of the ball, and do more attacking, and show our talents upfront, Said Payne who plays her club football with Sevilla in Spain

She spoke further that the nine-time African champions need to stick to their game plan and help each other on the pitch to get a positive result against their host.

I think if we stick to our game plan, we have a very good chance of winning. We also have a very good chance of getting out of the group right now, the points are fair between us, and if we get a win in our next match, we have every chance of getting out of the group.

I just want to thank Nigerians for all the support, pls keep supporting us and we would continue to make you proud.
