Watch: Arsenal star Bukayo Saka sends message to Nigerians

Bukayo Saka, who was born in Nigeria, was instrumental in Arsenal’s outstanding English Premier League success in the 2022-23 season

Arsenal and England attacker Bukayo Saka has responded to his return to his parent’s home country by receiving a warm welcome from supporters, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 21-year-old winger, who captivated the globe with his spectacular football performance, was previously spotted touching down in Lagos, with supporters flocking to greet him.

The Three Lions player, whose parents are from the South Western region of Nigeria, responded on social media by greeting his Nigerian football supporters in Yoruba and thanking them for their kind welcome.

The pacy winger, spotted in the video, was dressed in white native attire, waving to supporters yelling “Up Gunners,” and heading to the “Bales of Mercy Orphanage.”

“Ẹ kúulé o ! Thank you for the warm welcome” the Arsenal winger wrote on his social media page.

The purpose of Saka’s visit remains unknown, leading fans and commentators to speculate on the motives for his visit.

Some speculate that he is on a personal quest to reconnect with his Nigerian heritage and spend time with his extended family. Others assume that he is looking at ways to give back to the community his parents are from, such as sponsoring grassroots football programmes or engaging in humanitarian ventures.

Saka’s return to Lagos enhances his link with Nigeria and emphasises the necessity of embracing one’s heritage.
