Torino sets sights on next Super Eagles sensation following Ola Aina’s departure

Ola Aina recently bade farewell to his teammates amidst heavy links from some English Premier League clubs

Serie A side Torino are poised to engage in a transfer tussle with Glasgow Rangers as they vie for the signing of Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers, following the exit of Ola Aina, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian defender bids farewell to his teammates after Torino’s clash with Inter Milan. Tuttosports reportedly revealed that the Toro board are looking to hijack the signature of a Cremonese forward from Rangers.

Earlier reports indicated that Dessers had caught the attention of Rangers, but the progress of their negotiations has been slow, potentially jeopardizing their chance to replace Alfredo Morelos, whose contract recently expired with the Gers.

While Ola Aina played a crucial role for Davide Ballardini’s team, scoring 10 goals and providing 3 assists in all competitions, his efforts were insufficient to secure their place in the Serie A top flight.

However, recent reports suggest that Dessers may not have to endure the second division, as Torino’s Technical Director Davide Vagnati aims to bolster manager Ivan Juric’s squad for the upcoming season. Dessers’ skills and abilities are viewed as an ideal fit for the project.

Having previously played a season in Serie A, Dessers may be inclined to remain in Italy rather than face the challenge of adapting to a new league. This potential setback for Rangers could hinder their plans for rebuilding the team.

No official comments have been made by Cremonese or the player regarding his future, but Dessers’ reluctance to play in the second division adds an intriguing twist to the ongoing transfer saga.
