Following their victory over Sierra Leone, the Super Eagles of Nigeria secured their place in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations competition with a game remaining against São Tomé and Príncipe
Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, has underscored the significance of continuity, shutting doors on the invitation of some new faces in his squad, Soccernet.ng reports.
With a game to spare, Peseiro’s troops edged past Sierra Leone at the SKD Stadium in Monrovia on Sunday to secure a ticket to play in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The Portuguese boss, speaking to the media after the game, despite his contract expiration, shrank the possibility of introducing some new faces into the squad, having qualified for the tournament already.
Peseiro highlighted that constant changes to the team would impede progress and hinder the development of the squad’s organization.
“We have one national team, and there is time that we can work to improve the team,” stated Peseiro. “If I change the team all the time, I will never be able to improve our organization.”
Peseiro firmly believes in the importance of building a cohesive team over time, as the Super Eagles only have a limited number of days to prepare for matches. He emphasized the need for a strategic balance between short-term success and long-term development.
“While we aim to create more dynamics and organization against São Tomé [and Principe], we must consider how these changes will impact our preparations for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON),” added Peseiro. “The door to the Super Eagles is open for everybody.”

I don’t think this man is a good coach, he is just an opportunist who is capitalizing on the quality of Nigerian players.
Note that none of our opponents are ranked in the first 10 positions in Africa, so that use that shambolic performance where he put up absolutely no technical input to make a spurious claim.
This team is not hood, their defense is horrible, the midfield is terrible.
He must be sacked as he has nothing to offer the team
I actually agree with the opinion the Portuguese Jose peseiro to me is not the kind of manager the super eagles need cos what we see on the pitch is far below the quality those guys possesses especially the attack the midfield is purous defense is terrible and with peseiro in the helms I don't really c the super eagles improve that much as a team we need to change the team management get a better manager only then will the super eagles play the kind of good attacking football we always know these current grade can offer.
Changing of coaches frequently will not help the team. The super eagles problem now is not coaching. Two coaches were sacked in the last two years. This is not good for our football.
