Photos: AC Milan target resumes training with club ahead of pre-season games

Victor Boniface, with 6 goals, was the joint top scorer with Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford in the Europa League last season.

Dynamic 22-year-old forward, Victor Boniface, has resumed training with his Belgian club, Royale Union Saint-Gilliose, as they prepare for their upcoming pre-season games, Soccernet.ng reports.

Boniface’s stellar performances last season, where he netted an impressive 17 goals across various competitions, played a pivotal role in securing another European spot for his team.

His six goals in the Europa League propelled Royale Union Saint-Gilliose to the quarterfinals, where German side Bayern Leverkusen narrowly defeated them.

Despite his remarkable form, the talented former Bodo/Glimt player was not called up to represent Nigeria in their recent African Cup of Nations qualifying match.

Following the conclusion of the Belgian League season, Boniface took a break from his club but has since returned, appearing rejuvenated and ready for action in the training and gym sessions, as seen in the pictures shared on Union SG’s Instagram account.

The upcoming pre-season schedule for Royale Saint-Gilliose includes a match against French club Nice on July 7th, marking their first test ahead of the new campaign.

Since his move to Belgium from Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt last summer, Boniface has seamlessly integrated into his new club, forming a formidable partnership with Ivorian forward Simon Adingra.

Together, the duo contributed an impressive 20 goals and 17 assists in the league last season for Royale Saint-Gilliose, who narrowly missed out on the championship title to Royal Antwerp on the final day of the season.

Eager to replicate his outstanding form from the previous season, Boniface is determined to spearhead his club’s title challenge and propel them to greater heights in European competition.

With his exceptional performances, Boniface has garnered attention as one of Nigeria’s promising future stars, embodying the country’s ambition to reclaim its footballing glory, as Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro emphasised.
