Odion Ighalo: Former Manchester United star set to bid farewell to Al Hilal

Odion Ighalo has been nothing short of sensational this season with Al Hilal, tallying 43 goals and 7 assists in 59 games

Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo, could be on the brink of leaving Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal when his contract with the club expires, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ighalo’s efforts for the Blue Waves this season have been nothing short of outstanding, with an astonishing record of 43 goals and 7 assists in 59 matches.

However, while no official statement has been released by the club or the player regarding his departure, Ighalo recently reshared a heartfelt thank-you message on his Instagram story posted by his teammate and Saudi Arabia midfielder Salman Al-Faraj, which suggests that his time at Al Hilal may be coming to an end as his contract expires on June 30, 2023.

Earlier rumours from Soccernet.ng stated that Al Hilal had an eye on signing Lionel Messi from Paris Saint-Germain. If this move goes through, it might clear the door for Ighalo to leave the club, as they would need to create a spot in the team for the Argentine superstar.

During his stint with Al Hilal, the former Manchester United great was instrumental in the team’s success, helping them achieve the Premier League Championship and playing a key role in their King’s Cup and Super Lucille victories.

Ighalo’s amazing talent was not restricted to domestic tournaments; he also demonstrated it on the European scene. He emerged as the Asian Champions League’s leading goal scorer, firmly establishing himself among the competition’s leading attackers.

The possibility of Ighalo leaving Al Hilal heralds the end of an era for the club as fans wait for official confirmation and further information on his future.

While his Instagram story hints at the possibility of a new chapter in Ighalo’s career, the football world eagerly anticipates an announcement from him and the club and also the next chapter in his career.
