Meet the youngest players in Waldrum’s Super Falcons squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup

The head coach of Nigeria’s women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, Randy Waldrum, has released his 23-man roster for the highly awaited 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Among the talented players selected, there is a group of young stars who are set to make their mark on the global stage.

Soccernet.ng takes a closer look at the youngest players in Waldrum’s squad, who are poised to showcase their immense potential.

At just 22 years old, Nnadozie has already gained considerable experience as a goalkeeper. Currently playing for Paris FC, the young lad has proven to be a reliable shot-stopper and a vital asset to the team’s defensive line. Her agility, reflexes, and composure under pressure make her a formidable presence between the posts.

In defence, Demehin Oluwatosin and Rofiat Imuran, aged 21 and 19, respectively, bring youthful energy and tenacity to the squad.

Oluwatosin, representing Stade de Reims, combines solid defensive skills with the ability to initiate attacks from the backline. Imuran, also from Stade de Reims, is a promising young talent who possesses excellent positional awareness and technical abilities.

Deborah Abiodun, Jennifer Echegini, and Christy Onyenaturuchi Ucheibe, all 22 years old, feature in the midfield. Abiodun, a defender-turned-midfielder from River Angel, brings versatility and physicality to the team.

Echegini, who plays for Seminoles, is known for her vision, passing accuracy, and ability to control the tempo of the game. Ucheibe, representing S.L. Benfica, is a dynamic midfielder with a strong work rate and the ability to contribute both defensively and offensively.

Upfront, Gift Monday, aged 21, is a forward who poses a constant threat to opposing defences. Playing for UD Granadilla Tenerife, Monday possesses a blistering pace, excellent dribbling skills, and a keen eye for goal.

Her ability to create scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates makes her a vital component of the Super Falcons’ attacking force.

These young talents have proven themselves at both the domestic and international levels, earning their spots in the Super Falcons squad for the World Cup.

With their enthusiasm, skill, and determination, they will be crucial in Nigeria’s quest for success in the tournament. Under the guidance of Coach Waldrum, these rising stars have the opportunity to make a lasting impact and contribute to the team’s overall performance.

All eyes will be on these young Super Falcons as they showcase their skills, establish their value, and set the groundwork for a promising future in Nigerian women’s football while the whole world watches.
