Is Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze Juventus’ answer to Angel Di Maria’s departure?

Argentine maestro Angel Di Maria has announced that the 2022-2023 season will be the only one he spends at Juventus.

The 35-year-old playmaker arrived from PSG last summer and managed four goals and four assists in Serie A as the Old Lady failed to win back the Scudetto.

Following Di Maria’s departure from Juventus, the Italian giants will predictably be hunting for a suitable replacement for the Argentine winger.

One name that should be in the mix as a potential candidate is Samuel Chukwueze, the dynamic Super Eagles winger who recently claimed the prestigious Africa Player of the Season award in La Liga.

But then, can Chukwueze be the ideal successor to Di Maria at Juventus?

Supporting Chukwueze’s candidacy

At 24, Chukwueze has already made significant waves in the footballing world.

Throughout the 2022-2023 season in La Liga, his performances were nothing short of exceptional.

Samuel Chukwueze

With six goals and five assists in 37 league matches, Chukwueze consistently showcased his attacking prowess in the Spanish top flight.

His ability to find the back of the net, coupled with his creative vision, would bring a fresh dimension to Juventus’ attacking line.

Moreover, Chukwueze’s versatility is another aspect that sets him apart. Capable of playing on either flank, he possesses the speed and agility to trouble opposition defences.

It is not for fun that the flying Nigerian forward has been recognised as the Best African Player in La Liga this term.

His blistering runs, combined with his dribbling skills, make him a nightmare for defenders to handle.

These attributes align closely with the style of play Juventus has traditionally embraced, where skill, flair, and physicality go hand in hand.

Chukwueze’s breakthrough brace against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium earlier this year highlighted his potential to excel on the big stage.

It was a display of his composure under pressure and his ability to deliver when it mattered most, traits that Juventus would undoubtedly value in a replacement for Di Maria.

Any drawbacks to such a move?

Despite Chukwueze’s undeniable talent and accomplishments, there could be some credibility in the argument that he may still lack the experience required to fill the void left by Di Maria.

Di Maria’s departure leaves a leadership vacuum that needs to be filled, and it remains to be seen whether Chukwueze possesses the maturity and on-field presence necessary to guide the team in crucial moments.

Furthermore, while Chukwueze has displayed his ability to make a significant impact in La Liga, there may be doubts as to whether he can replicate that success in the more physical and tactically demanding environment of Serie A.

The Italian league is renowned for its defensive prowess, and Chukwueze would need to adapt quickly to the unique challenges posed by Italian football.

In conclusion, as Juventus search for a worthy successor to Angel Di Maria, Samuel Chukwueze emerges as a tempting option.
His explosive speed, technical ability, and goal-scoring prowess make him an intriguing prospect for the Italian giants.

While some concerns remain regarding his experience and adaptability, it is clear that Chukwueze can thrive in a new environment and elevate Juventus’ attacking game.

Only time will tell if the Old Lady takes a chance on this rising star, but the argument for Samuel Chukwueze as Di Maria’s ideal replacement at Juventus certainly holds merit.
