Exploring options beyond Cremonese: Why Cyriel Dessers will exit Cremona amid 2027 contract deal

Super Eagles forward, Cyriel Dessers, joined italian side, U.S Cremonese, for a fee in the region of €6.50m, which would tie him to the club till 2027.

However, with the latest development, the possibility of the Nigerian international remaining at the Italian club for the upcoming season appears increasingly unlikely.

The former KRC Genk striker is reportedly considering a departure from Italy, as indicated by Italian transfer journalist Nico Schira.

The reason behind Dessers’ potential exit is quite clear, which is Cremonese’s relegation to the Italian second division following a disappointing 19th-place finish in the league.

This prospect of playing in Serie B does not align with Dessers’ ambitions, prompting him to seek alternative opportunities elsewhere.

The drop to Serie B undoubtedly presents a new chapter for the Violins, but for a player like Dessers, it signifies a step back in his career trajectory. Having experienced the thrill of top-flight football and competing against some of the best teams in Serie A, the prospect of plying his trade in a lower division holds little appeal for the ambitious Nigerian forward.

As a result, Dessers has set his sights on a move that will allow him to continue his development at a higher level. and one potential destination that has emerged is Scottish side Glasgow Rangers.

The reports of Dessers’ potential transfer to the Scottish league have created quite a buzz among football enthusiasts.

Joining the Gers would offer Dessers the opportunity to compete in a highly competitive league and showcase his skills on a bigger stage.

Moreover, the departure of Rangers’ prolific forward Alfredo Morelos, who departed upon the expiry of his contract, creates a void that Dessers could potentially fill.

Moving to Glasgow would provide Dessers with an environment that perfectly aligns with his aspirations. The club boasts a rich history, a passionate fanbase, and the chance to compete in European competitions.

The allure of playing for a club with such prestige and under the guidance of a renowned manager could prove irresistible for the Nigerian striker.

Furthermore, a move to Rangers would enable Dessers to continue his development under the guidance of experienced coaches and alongside talented teammates.

The club’s focus on attacking football and their ability to consistently challenge for silverware make it an appealing destination for any forward looking to make a mark in their career.

While the potential move to Rangers is yet to be confirmed, the prospect of Dessers donning the famous blue jersey and leading the line for the Scottish giants is an exciting one.

His goal-scoring abilities and knack for creating opportunities would undoubtedly add a new dimension to Rangers’ attacking prowess.
