U17 AFCON: Nduka Ugbade reveals Golden Eaglets’ game plan for South Africa clash

The Golden Eaglets need to avoid a loss when they play South Africa in their final group game, and coach Ugbade has revealed their plans for the fixture

Golden Eaglets coach Nduka Ugbade has asserted that they will improve on their finishing ahead of their final group game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations against South Africa, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nigeria created a plethora of chances when they played Zambia in their first game of the Under-17 AFCON, but they churned out a 1-0 win.

The same issue was evident in their second game against Morocco. However, it cost them, as they fell to a 1-0 loss to the North Africans despite controlling the game and recording 27 attempts on goal.

The Golden Eaglets play South Africa in their final group game on Saturday. And ahead of the fixture, coach Ugbade has revealed that they will work on their finishing to ensure they get something from the tie.

“We must be more efficient with the chances we have,” Ugbade told CAF Media.

“Also, we will try to look for some different ways tactically to impact the outcome of the game.

“We have a chance, but also, that chance can fade away. We have to work hard.

South Africa need a win to qualify for the next round. The Golden Eaglets need to be at their best to defeat South Africa. A victory would not just seal their spot in the semifinal of the AFCON, it would also seal their spot at the 2023 Under-17 World Cup.
