Former Ajax Amsterdam star Tijani Babangida has given the Golden Eaglets tips on how to beat Morocco ahead of their group B game of the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, Soccernet.ng reports.
The former Super Eagles winger warned the Eaglets to be wary of the antics of the Moroccans, who are known for wasting time during matches.
Nigeria defeated Zambia 1-0, while Morocco edged South Africa 2-0 in their respective group game opener on Sunday.
With both teams set to clash on Wednesday, Babangida urged the Golden Eaglets to maintain a high level of concentration in order to avoid conceding first against this Moroccan side.
Speaking to Complete Sports, Babangida stated that he believes both teams are evenly matched, having won their opening games.
He added that the Eaglets must avoid conceding first due to the Moroccan’s time-wasting antics.
The former Ajax Amsterdam star said, “I want to believe both teams are evenly matched, having won their opening games on Sunday against South Africa and Zambia.
“However, I will urge the Golden Eaglets to maintain a high level of concentration in order to avoid conceding first against this Moroccan side that are always known to waste time.”
The match between Nigeria and Morocco promises to be an exciting encounter, and the Golden Eaglets will hope to build on their win over Zambia to secure another victory.
The Golden Eaglets are aiming for a record third title, while Morocco have only made the semifinals once, in 2013.
