U-20 World Cup: What Brazil’s coach Ramon said after victory against Flying Eagles

The junior Selecao defeated Nigeria by a score of 2 goals to 0 to advance to the U-20 World Cup competition’s next round.

The head coach of the U-20 Brazil national team, Ramon Menezes Hubner, has reacted to his team’s victory against the Flying Eagles of Nigeria, Soccernet.ng reports.

The youthful Selecao defeated Ladan Bosso’s team by a score of two goals to zero, snapping Nigeria’s winning run as they built on their triumph against the Dominican Republic.

After the game, the 50-year-old manager expressed his delight with the victory by revealing that his team’s objective throughout the Group round of the competition was to move to the next round of play.

The tie against Nigeria was a must-win one for the South Americans after hammering Walter Benitez’s boys with a score of 6 goals to nil. But with goals from Jean and Marquinhos, Brazil had a back-to-back victory to progress to the next stage.

The former Esporte Clube Vitória boss, speaking at the end of the game, acknowledged his team’s loss to the Italians, and how they have been able to bounce back.

“Our goal has always been to qualify. Logistics will not come first. First place is our football and doing what the boys did very well. We didn’t have a good game against Italy, but the last two games showed our behaviour and what we can do in the competition. It’s important to pass, and score goals, and now the decision really begins. It is to recover these athletes. Everyone is conscious, focused, knowing what to do on the field. The spirit, the attitude, the delivery… That’s really cool.” he said as quoted by Globo.

Following Brazil’s victory against Nigeria, three teams—Nigeria, Italy, and Brazil—shared a total of six points and qualified for the tournament’s next stage.
