“Out of position”- Super Eagles icon Sunday Oliseh unimpressed with Lampard’s tactics

Arsenal defeated Chelsea to revive their hope of winning the English Premier League title this season

Former Super Eagles player, Sunday Oliseh, expressed his dissatisfaction with Chelsea manager Frank Lampard for employing N’Golo Kante in an inappropriate position.

Fireworks were let off at the Emirate Stadium when Arsenal defeated Chelsea by a score of 3 goals to nil in the London Derby, shortly after their disappointing loss to Manchester City.

The Nigerian was unimpressed with the Blues’ performance throughout the course of the game’s 90 minutes and questioned why France international Kante was not used in his normal position.

Recall that the gold medalist at the Olympics and the Africa Cup of Nations formerly played as a defensive midfielder. He has already made a point of praising Kante’s skill and identifying with Wilfred Ndidi.

But Kante, who settled to the right side of the midfield alongside Enzo Fernández and Mateo Kovacic in Lampard’s 4-3-3 formation, dissatisfied Oliseh after the game.

Meanwhile, Oliseh praised Arsenal’s effort against the Stamford Bridge outfit in his reaction to the match’s outcome. “Arsenal was on fire vs. Chelsea!” he wrote.

“I am totally dumbfounded by Chelsea and most especially how on earth it is possible, for N’golo Kante, who has won virtually everything with Chelsea and France as the greatest defensive midfielder of his generation, is continually played out of position!” he continued.

Following the game, Chelsea is currently positioned in the lower half of the English Premier League standings, and a further defeat could cause them to fall even further when they play Manchester United, Manchester City, and Newcastle.
