Nigerian talent worth €20 million is named in Premier League’s team of the week

Alan Shearer’s team of the week includes a Super Eagles attacker in a 4-3-3 formation

Super Eagles attacker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has been named in Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of The Week following his impressive performance against Southampton, Soccernet.ng reports.

At the City Ground Stadium, Steve Cooper’s team hosted the Saints, who they defeated 4–3 in a thrilling seven-goal contest.

The Nigerian star scored two goals in the first half of the game to lead his club to their second victory in five games, and as a result, he was included in the Premier League team of the week.

The Super Eagles forward received a brilliant pass from Brennan Johnson in the 18th minute of Nottingham’s victory against the Saints, giving Cooper’s troops the lead.

Three minutes later, the €20 million rated Nigerian star helped the Reds and himself when he deftly turned and stretched out Southampton keeper Alex McCarthy to get to the ball.

After his impressive showing, Awoniyi was selected as the centre attacker in a 4-3-3 formation with Tom Cairney on the right and Brazilian Willian on the left.

The Nigerian striker, who yesterday recorded his eighth brace overall and first double in the English Premier League, will be hoping to build on that performance when Forest travels to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea.
