“Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen make the difference for Napoli” – Ex-Italy international

Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia have been key to Napoli’s success this season

Ex-Italy midfielder Eraldo Picci believes Napoli would not have been able to achieve anything this season without Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and Georgian wonderkid Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Soccernet.ng reports.

Napoli bought Osimhen from Lille for €72million in 2020. But he finally came good after struggling to hit the ground running in his first two campaigns.

The Nigeria striker has registered 28 goals and five assists in 36 appearances for the Partenopeans. His goals have helped to propel Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years, and their first-ever quarterfinal finish in the UEFA Champions League.

Osimhen has struck a great partnership with Georgian stunner Kvaratskhelia who just joined the club last summer. The 24-year-old forward has registered 14 goals and 17 assists in 41 appearances.

Picci has been impressed with how both players have performed this season, and he believes that Napoli could not have won the league without Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia.

“The team play has been key to their success this season, but when Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia were missing, they lost to AC Milan. That is a pointer that the two players made the difference,” Picci told Radio CRC per Napoli Magazine.

Osimhen is currently the highest goalscorer in Serie A. With two games left, he has three more goals than Lautaro Martinez. If he wins it, he would become the first African to win the Capocannoniere.
