Watch: Iwobi stars as Everton climb out of relegation waters with massive win at Brighton

Everton produced a scintillating performance to secure a stunning 5-1 victory over Brighton at the Amex Stadium, providing a significant boost to their Premier League survival bid.

The match witnessed a standout display from Alex Iwobi, who played a crucial role in Everton’s fourth goal, expertly assisting Dwight McNeil in a breathtaking attacking move.

Right from the kickoff, Everton showcased their intent as they took the lead within 33 seconds through Abdoulaye Doucoure’s clinical finish from close range. The visitors continued to dominate proceedings, and it was Iwobi’s vision and precision that unlocked Brighton’s defense, leading to Everton’s second goal.

In the 29th minute, a sublime volley from Doucoure, extended Everton’s lead.

As the first half approached its conclusion, Iwobi’s presence in the opponent’s caused further havoc in Brighton’s backline. The Nigerian winger was looking to get on the end of a cut back, only for the unfortunate Jason Steele to inadvertently direct it into his own net, leaving Brighton stunned and Everton with a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime.

Following the break, Brighton made several changes in an attempt to overturn the deficit. They struck the woodwork on two occasions, but it was Everton who continued to shine.

Iwobi’s influence remained undeniable, with his relentless work rate and intelligent movement causing constant problems for the home side.

In the 76th minute, Iwobi combined brilliantly with McNeil for Everton’s fourth goal.

It was Iwobi’s ninth assist of the season for the Toffees.

Although Brighton managed a consolation goal through Alexis Mac Allister, McNeil completed his brace in stoppage time to hand Everton a hugely valuable win.

This emphatic win lifted Everton from 19th to 16th in the table, just two points adrift of the relegation zone, providing a glimmer of hope for their Premier League survival.

With this result, Brighton’s aspirations of securing a place in the Champions League were dealt a blow, although they remain in the Europa Conference League spot.

Everton’s victory serves as a statement of intent and a significant step forward in their battle to retain their Premier League status.
