Bundesliga: Bayern Munich claim title after Dortmund slip; how Super Eagles stars finished

Borussia Dortmund looked set to win their first title in eleven years, but a final-day twist at Signal Iduna Park saw their hopes go up in smoke

An 89th-minute goal from Jamal Musiala sealed the Bundesliga title for Bayern Munich after Borussia Dortmund dropped points against Mainz, Soccernet.ng reports.

Borussia Dortmund finished the Bundesliga season in second place after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Mainz at Signal Iduna Park. That would have been enough for them to win the league, but defending champions Bayern Munich showed champions stuff, defeating Cologne 2-1 to secure an 11th-straight title.

It was an enthralling Bundesliga season, but it turned out to be a disappointing campaign for some Nigerian stars.

Super Eagles dribble-wizard Chidera Ejuke, who moved to Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan from CSKA Moscow had a disappointing campaign. Ejuke could not help Hertha Berlin avoid relegation, as they finished 18th.

The Nigerian striker featured mainly as a substitute in his first few months at the club. But he sustained an injury in December that kept him sidelined for over four months. Upon his return, he could not help his side stay up.

Ejuke made 20 appearances in the Bundesliga, and he had three assists to his name.

Meanwhile, Nigerian defender Kevin Akpoguma had a good season with Hoffenheim. They were poor in the opening weeks of the season, but they eventually got into their stride and finished 12th. Akpoguma made 28 appearances in the league.
