Former Union Berlin Forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, took his goal tally to a total of 7 this season after a brace against Southampton
Nottingham Forest forward, Brennan Johnson, and Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo, have both reacted to Taiwo Awoniyi’s brace against Southampton.
The Super Eagles forward demonstrated to supporters his menace to defences by scoring two goals as the Forests welcomed Ruben Selles’ men to the City Ground Stadium.
Ighalo, a former striker for Watford, praised his countryman on social media, while Johnson, Awoniyi’s colleague, praised him for his outstanding performance.
The Tricky Trees fought their way out of the English Premier League’s relegation zone with their most recent victory, which saw them move up to 16th place after a seven-goal thriller match.
However, the Nigerian striker gave Steve Cooper’s team a 2-0 lead during the triumph by scoring twice in three first-half minutes of play. The attacker had a rough few months prior to that, suffering an injury in January and missing three months of participation.
Awoniyi, who has taken his goal tally for the season to seven, took to his Instagram page to express his joy for ending his 3 months goal drought.
“Ordinary men defended and were influenced by the jealousy of a great God. God is the greatest” he wrote.
Following Monday’s brace, Ighalo commented on Awoniyi’s Instagram with a brief and sincere “congrats, bro.”
Johnson has delved a little farther. He credited Awoniyi with an assist for his first goal and described him as a “big game player.”
The Nigerian striker will be hoping to pick up from where he left off when the West Bridgford-based club travel to Stamford Bridge Stadium to tackle Chelsea FC
