Brazil’s Flamengo make international splash with signing of Nigerian wonderkid

Brazilian giants Flamengo have signed Beyond Limits academy striker Olusola Ogundana on loan for their under-20 team with an option to buy at the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Flamengo scouted the 18-year-old attacker during the Viarregio Cup 2022, a traditional grassroots tournament held annually in Tuscany, Italy, since 1949.

Shola, as he is fondly called, was one of the standout players in the tournament last year, which is exclusively for under-18 athletes. He was a key player for his team and helped them reach the final of the competition.

Flamengo’s scouts were impressed by Shola’s performance in the Viarregio Cup and decided to send a scout to Nigeria to watch him play again.

After the observation, Flamengo concluded the signing of the talented striker for their under-20 team, as per Globo

The Brazilian club has a reputation for scouting young talents from different parts of the world, and this time they have placed their bet on a young Nigerian talent.

Flamengo will hope that Shola will bring his skills and talents to their under-20 team and help them achieve their objectives.

The loan deal is expected to last for one season, giving Shola enough time to settle in and showcase his skills. Flamengo have the option to buy the player at the end of the season if he performs well.
