Anderlecht, Gent, Lyon and Sevilla ready to battle Barcelona for hot Golden Eaglet star

The young player from Nigeria was the only one from the Golden Eaglets team to make the CAF Best XI for the group stage

Two Jupiler Pro League, Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht, and KAA Gent, are interested in signing Golden Eaglets star, Yahaya Lawali, Soccernet.ng reports.

Barcelona is reportedly keeping an eye on the 16-year-old after his performance in the 2023 Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations competition caught their notice.

A recent report from voetbalnieuws, reveals that two Belgian clubs, Anderlecht and Gent, are also interested in signing the Nigerian teenager.

Lawali is a desirable possibility for these teams due to his versatility, which includes playing as a right-back, left-back, central midfielder, and winger.

After contributing three assists to help Nigeria win the WAFU B regional U17 qualifying competition and earn a spot on the Team of the competition, the full-back caught the attention of numerous teams.

However, the Mahanaim FC player was selected for the best squad in the group stage of the AFCON competition after contributing three assists while being named Man of the Match twice in four games.

According to rumours, Sevilla and even FC Barcelona are interested in signing him, and there is already fierce rivalry from French clubs like RC Lens, Olympique Lyon, and Strasbourg.

Although his academy has not responded to these rumours, his performance in the biennial international youth competition will likely result in joining a European club when he turns 18.
