Ighalo has been in Superb form since he returned from injury, and he continued with his brilliance against Al Khaleej
Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo scored a brace for Al Hilal in their 2-0 victory over Al Khaleej at the MRSOOL Park.
Ighalo has been in great form for fourth-place Al Hilal since he returned from his last injury layoff. The former Watford man had scored nine goals in his previous six appearances for Al Hilal, and he was gaining ground on Talisca and Abderrazak Hamdallah on the Saudi Arabian Professional League goalscorers’ charts.
He was on the starting eleven when Al Hilal welcomed Al Khaleej to MRSOOL Park. The home side were the better side from the blast of the whistle, but they were unable to break down the visitors’ backline early.
However, they finally broke the deadlock, and Ighalo was in the mix. He received a cross from Mohammed Al Burayk and turned his marker in and out before striking the ball to the roof of the goalpost.
Al Hilal did not take their feet off the pedal, as they kept pushing for goals. Just before halftime, they won a penalty. Ighalo was on hand to finish with aplomb to give Al Hilal a two-goal lead.
The visitors pushed hard to get a goal back, but Al Hilal held their lines and sealed the 2-0 win.
Following his exploits, Ighalo now has 14 goals in the Saudi Arabian Professional League this season. He is one goal behind highest goalscorer Hamdallah.
