Super Eagles boss Peseiro watched Gent’s wonder-kid against West Ham in UECL tie

Gift Orban has been wonderful in recent weeks, and Peseiro has taken notice

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro was at the Ghelamco Arena to watch Gift Orban in KAA Gent’s 1-1 draw against West Ham in the first leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League quarterfinal tie.

Orban has taken Europe by storm since his switch from second-tier Norwegian club Stabaek to Gent in January. The prolific 20-year-old Nigerian hitman has repaid every bit of the €3.3million that the club paid for his services.

Since joining Gent, Orban has scored 15 goals in 13 appearances for the Buffaloes. His goals have pushed the team up the Jupiler Pro League standings, helping them to one of the playoff spots.

Due to his run of form, there have been talks about him getting an invitation to the Super Eagles. However, he only managed to get an Olympic Eagles call-up, which he did not honour.

Super Eagles coach Peseiro has apparently been impressed by Orban’s numbers, and he revealed via a post on his Twitter page that he was at the Ghelamco Stadium to watch Orban play for his club against West Ham in the Europa League. Orban failed to score, but he put in a good shift for his club.

Peseiro’s presence at Gent may mean that Orban will soon get called up to the national team. However, he still has to bid his time because Nigeria is blessed with a lot of attacking talent.
