“Osimhen is extraordinary” – Ex-Napoli defender

Osimhen has been superb for Napoli this season, and he has continued to gather praise from present and past players

Former Napoli defender Ruben Maldonado believes Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is an extraordinary player Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old hitman has been phenomenal for Napoli this season. The Nigeria striker has morphed into the striker Aurelio De Laurentiis envisioned when he paid Lille €72million for his signature in 2020.

He has struck 25 goals in 29 appearances for the Partenopeans this season, helping them to the summit of the Serie A.

Osimhen is the highest goalscorer in the Italian top flight with 21 goals. And he is leading Napoli’s charge to their first Scudetto win in over 30 years.

Ex-Napoli defender Maldonado has been impressed by Osimhen this season, and he believes he is a crucial part of the setup at Naples.

“Osimhen is an extraordinary and fundamental striker, one of a kind,” Maldonado told Napoli Magazine.

“His presence, or absence as we have seen recently, can make itself felt, but I have faith in the group that coaches the coach.”

Napoli are at the most important point of their season. They have almost wrapped up the Scudetto, but they have a chance to reach the final of the Champions League for the first time in their history.

They take on Milan in midweek, and if they want to get something from the tie, Osimhen would have to play an important role.
