Nigerians abroad: Adediran superb; Odey stars; Ighalo, Osimhen edge toward history; Taiwo on target

Nigerian footballers are making headlines around the world with their incredible performances on the pitch.

In the Czech Republic, Victor Olatunji provided a crucial assist for Slovan Liberec’s second goal in their 3-1 triumph over Wale Alli’s Zbrojovka Brno.

Meanwhile, Quadri Adediran showed his striking prowess as he rounded off the scoring for České Budějovice in their sensational 5-1 demolition of Joshua Akpudje’s Jablonec.

Over in Denmark, Stephen Odey was the star of the show as he opened the scoring for Randers in their highly-anticipated Superliga clash against Brøndby. Tosin Kehinde also played a vital role in the visitors’ emphatic 4-0 victory at the Brøndby Stadion.

In England, Semi Ajayi had a disappointing outing as his West Brom side stumbled to a 2-1 home defeat against Sunderland in the Championship.

However, in Norway, Akor Adams was the hero of the hour as he scored the winner in Lillestrøm’s 2-1 triumph over ten-man Molde in the Eliteserien.

In Italy, Victor Osimhen put on a masterclass as Napoli took a huge step towards their first league title in 33 years with an impressive 1-0 win over Juventus.

Meanwhile, Tyronne Ebuehi’s Empoli suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Inter Milan, while Isaac Success scored his first league goal in a year to inspire Udinese to a convincing 3-0 victory over Cyriel Dessers’ Cremonese.

Saudi Arabia saw Odion Ighalo and Al Hilal progress to the final of the King’s Cup after Ahmed Hegazy’s own goal in the first half of extra time gave the champions the advantage over Al Ittihad.

In Slovakia, Abdulrahman Taiwo scored the opening goal for Spartak Trnava in their 1-1 draw against visiting DAC 1904.

And in Slovenia, Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi was among the goal-scorers for Celje as they stunned Bravo 3-0 away from home.

The women’s game also saw some thrilling performances from Nigerian footballers. Ann Imo was the standout player in Piteå’s 4-1 victory against Brommapojkarna in the Damallsvenskan, scoring two goals including a 64th-minute penalty.

Meanwhile, in Spain, Rasheedat Ajibade featured for half an hour as Atletico Madrid secured a hard-fought 2-1 home win over Levante in the Primera Division Femenina.

In La Liga, Samuel Chukwueze impressed on the flanks for Villarreal, but his efforts were in vain as his side suffered a 2-1 loss to Sevilla.

Finally, Kenneth Omeruo provided the assist for Miramón’s goal for Leganes in their 2-1 loss away to Alaves in the Segunda Division.
