Nigerian goalscoring wonder wins Atletico Madrid Women’s Player of the Month award

Nigerian sensation, Rasheedat Ajibade, has emerged victorious in the race for Atletico Madrid Women’s Player of the Month award for her stunning performances throughout March.

The 23-year-old forward, who has been in blistering form all season, has been pivotal to Atletico Madrid’s success this year, helping them to stay among the top four clubs in the division.

During March, Ajibade was truly unstoppable, scoring a whopping three goals in just four league games for the Madrid-based team.

Her incredible run began with a two-goal masterpiece in Atletico Madrid’s triumphant 2-1 win over Real Sociedad, followed by another goal in their 3-1 victory against Alhama.

Thanks to Ajibade’s impressive contribution, Atletico Madrid enjoyed a fantastic month, winning three games and drawing one, and it is no surprise that the Nigerian attacker was named the best player of the month.

With eight goals under her belt, Ajibade is having an outstanding individual season, and she currently holds the second spot on the team’s top scorer chart, only behind Brazil’s Ludmila.

Unfortunately, Atletico Madrid has not had the best of seasons, and they currently trail the league leaders, Barcelona, by a whopping 23 points.

Nonetheless, Ajibade is expected to play a crucial role this weekend when Atletico Madrid face their biggest challenge of the season, a highly-anticipated trip to Estadi Johan Cruyff to take on Asisat Oshoala’s Barcelona.

Ajibade has also been active internationally, featuring in both of Nigeria’s two friendly matches during the international break, where the Super Falcons defeated Haiti, and 2023 FIFA World Cup co-hosts New Zealand.

It is undoubtedly clear that Ajibade is on the rise, and fans of Atletico Madrid and Nigerian football have plenty to be excited about.
