Italian gaffer “ready to bet” on Osimhen’s return to Napoli squad

Victor Osimhen received his second injury in the 2022-2023 season while on international duty for Nigeria

Former Cremonese player Dario Marcolin is willing to wager that Napoli won’t risk Victor Osimhen for the UEFA Champions League first-leg matchup against AC Milan.

The Nigerian star suffered an injury during the Super Eagles’ doubleheader tie against Guinea-Bissau in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie.

According to the former Olympic Italy player, the Nigerian might return to the Diego Maradona stadium when Verona visits, and he could start the second-leg match against AC Milan.

The Nigerian absence was greatly felt in the Rossoneri’s routing of Luciano Spalletti’s men at the San Siro stadium on Sunday, owing to his injury.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old’s potential rapid comeback to the club to help them revenge their setback on Sunday in the forthcoming Champions League match is now a topic of discussion.

Nonetheless, Marcolin claimed that the Super Eagles attacker’s recuperation would not be hurried in discussion with Ottochannel during the show “La Domenica Azzurra.”

“The recovery of Osimhen? I don’t think he’ll be able to make it for the first leg of the Champions League. I’m ready to bet that he won’t be risked to play 30′ with Verona and play as a starter in Naples in the Champions League against the Rossoneri,”. he said, as cited by Tutto Napoli.

Despite Napoli’s humiliating defeat to AC Milan, the Neapolitans are still the favourites to get to the Semifinal on aggregate.
