Harry Redknapp gives relegation verdicts on Awoniyi’s Nottingham, Iheanacho’s Leicester, and Onuachu’s Southampton

Six Super Eagles players’ teams sit in the English Premier League’s relegation zone

Former Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has provided his judgement on the futures of Nottingham Forest, Leicester City, and Southampton in the English Premier League, Soccernet.ng understands.

The three teams are on the verge of relegation, and any more defeats in the Premier League in fewer than eight games will further sink them.

According to the 76-year-old questioned on a podcast, they won’t quite have enough this season to escape the drop.

Since the 1-0 victory against Leeds United at the beginning of February, Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis’ team has been on a downward spiral. Since that triumph, Steve Cooper’s team has gone winless and has fallen into the drop zone.

Paul Onuachu, who joined the Premier League in the winter transfer window to lift the Saints out of the relegation zone, was unable to make much of an impact since the squad has only won six games and lost 20 so far this season. It may tumble much worse today when they play Arsenal.

However, given the calibre of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, they might aid Leicester in leaving the relegation zone, given that Dean Smith’s squad is just two points away from safety.

However, Redknapp believes the three clubs are still in serious danger, with fewer than eight games remaining. He specifically mentions Steve Cooper’s squad, who are tied for points with Everton as the first team to be relegated from the Premier League.

“They’re bang in trouble.

“I think Forest would be my favourite at the moment to get the drop. I’d go with Leicester, Southampton and Forest.

“Steve Cooper did a fantastic job last season getting them up, but I do think they’re in big trouble this year,” he said.

The remaining league games for Nottingham Forest include matches against Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea, which the Englishman must have correctly anticipated, given that all three teams are vying for a good finish.
