Dennis impresses again but Nottingham Forest succumb to painful defeat against Aston Villa

The Super Eagles star has been in great form in recent weeks, and he continued against Leeds United

Super Eales striker Emmanuel Dennis nicked an assist for Nottingham Forest in their 2-1 loss at Leeds United on Tuesday Soccernet.ng reports.

Dennis got his third consecutive start for the Tricky Trees when they traveled to Elland Road to take on relegation-threatened Leeds.

The Super Eagles striker looked very lively from the blast of the whistle, and he came in handy for his sides 12 minutes into the game.

Dennis got the ball on the edge of the box and sent it into the box toward Orel Mangala, who struck a nice shot that went straight into the bottom right corner to give Nottingham Forest the lead.

However, their lead did not last long, as Jack Harrison equalized eight minutes later. Then with seconds to go until halftime, Luis Sinisterra scored Leeds United’s second to put them in control of the tie.

Nottingham Forest started the second half well, with Dennis registering an attempt on goal, but it was blocked before it could trouble Ilan Meslier.

Taiwo Awoniyi was introduced in the 56th minute to try and rescue something for Steve Cooper’s side, but he was properly marshaled. Dennis was taken off in the 71st minute.

Unfortunately for Nottingham Forest, they could not muster much in front of goal, and they had to settle for the 2-1 loss. The result leaves them hanging in 17th place, only separated from relegation by their stronger goal difference.

For Dennis, it has been steady growth in recent games. He was involved in Forest’s last three goals and he could cement his spot in the side if he continues with his form.

Awoniyi just got back from a two-month layoff, and he need ls to get back to his best to help his club avoid relegation.
