Coaching the disabled: Super Eagles star serves punishment for his offensive gesture

The Nigerian international only joined the Belgian champions last summer, but he played a crucial role in helping the club reach the knockout round of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in history

Super Eagles midfielder, Raphael Onyedika, has served his punishment for his offensive conduct during a match in February by coaching young athletes with disabilities, Soccernet.ng reports.

The midfielder was caught on camera flashing his middle finger at the home supporters three times during a heated match between Antwerp and Club Brugge.

After the incident, Club Brugge decided to solve the matter internally and spoke with Onyedika, who agreed to lead a training session for the Bruges G-squad. The G-squad is a football team for people with disabilities.

On Wednesday, the Nigerian midfielder was on the field with Club Brugge’s G-squad, where he taught them the necessary “tips and tricks”. The Club Brugge social media account shared a group photo of Onyedika with the young athletes and thanked him for participating in the training session.

The midfielder has been a key player for Club Brugge this season, with his impressive performances helping the team to reach the knockout round of the Champions League for the first time in history. However, his actions during the match against Antwerp were unacceptable, and he has since shown remorse for his behaviour.

Onyedika’s decision to take part in the coaching session for the Bruges G-squad has been praised by fans and football enthusiasts alike. The midfielder’s willingness to learn from his mistakes and make amends for his actions is a positive step towards promoting a culture of respect and fair play in football.
