“We are not here to play”- Super Eagles captain Musa fires warning to Guinea-Bissau players

The Super Eagles’ rematch with Guinea-Bissau in the AFCON qualifying round is scheduled to take place at Estadio Nacional 24 de Setembro

The Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has issued a warning to the Guinea-Bissau players in advance of today’s match.

The Sivasspor player claimed that despite the Super Eagles’ side dominating with possession, the African wild dogs were fortunate to have overcome them at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

Baciro Candé’s team trounced the Nigerian team at home on Friday evening by a score of one goals to zero to exact their payback for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

In contrast to Guinea-Bissau, who only attempted 7 shots and only succeeded in scoring on one of the three shots that were on target, the Nigerian team attempted 17 attempts throughout the game, of which three were on target.

Speaking to the media, the former Leicester City player recognised his team’s lopsided possession advantage in the first leg of their AFCON qualifying match against Guinea-Bissau and said the squad would right its mistakes.

“In our meeting, we also addressed that issue, obviously, Guinea-Bissau was lucky to come out victorious against us because of possession wise we dominated the game and we missed a lot of scoring chances.

“Tomorrow we are not here to play a draw or something, we are here to win and we are fighting for everything.” he said.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are predicted to win this game in order to clear a road to the 34th edition of the biennial African tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.
