In an exciting announcement by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), three Flying Eagles’ goals have made it to the Top 10 goals of the just concluded 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
The Nigerian team made their mark in the tournament scoring eight goals on the road to finishing in third place and picking the bronze medal.
Three of those goals have been considered among the best scored in Egypt.
Jude Sunday’s third goal in Nigeria’s 4-0 win against the Young Carthage Eagles of Tunisia was a tournament highlight.
The young midfielder’s dribbling skills were on full display as he expertly weaved past four Tunisian defenders before unleashing a powerful shot into the net.
Another noteworthy goal was Ibrahim Muhammad’s blistering strike from the edge of the box in the Flying Eagles’ 2-0 victory against Mozambique. His confident shot left the goalkeeper with no chance of stopping it, as it sailed into the top left corner
Left-back Solomon Agbalaka’s powerful header in the Flying Eagles’ 1-0 win against hosts Egypt was also selected in the top 10 goals by CAF. His commanding presence in the opposition box was evident as he rose above the Egyptian defenders to head the ball into the net, securing a crucial victory for his team.
In addition to these impressive achievements, Ladan Bosso’s side was awarded the Fair Play award at the end of the competition, a testament to their exemplary conduct throughout the tournament.
Despite the seven-time continental champions finishing in third position at Egypt 2023, their performances have faced huge criticisms with many fans calling for quality reinforcement ahead of the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup.
