5. Algeria

The Algerian national team are known for their attacking and technical style of play. They have won the African Cup of Nations twice and have 4 World Cup appearances to their name, reaching the Round of 16 in 2014. The current Arab Cup holders are remembered for their unforgettable 2–1 win against West Germany during the 1982 FIFA World Cup in which they shocked the world. They also became the first and only team to win the AFCON tournament three times in a row after lifting the highly-coveted title in 2006, 2008 and 2010. Morocco

Morocco are known for their unprecedented 2022 World Cup performance, which saw them defeat the likes of Portugal and Spain to finish in 4th place, Africa’s best ever finish. They have a total of 6 WC appearances and have won the African Cup of Nations only once. They have 2 African Nations Championship (CHAN) titles and one Arab Cup.

Congo

The Congo national football team have won 2 African Cup of Nations and 2 CHAN titles. In 1982, they became the first Sub-Saharan African team to qualify for the World Cup.

Senegal

Senegal won their first and only African Cup of Nations in 2021 but have finished as runner-up in two occasions. The current holders of CHAN have 3 World Cup appearances to their name and reached the quarterfinals in 2022.

Tunisia

Tunisia are one of Africa’s most iconic national teams. They won their only AFCON title in 2004 and have 6 World Cup appearances to their name. They won the Arab Cup in 1963 and CHAN in 2011.
