“That’d be insane” – Victor Osimhen reveals the fuel driving Napoli’s surge toward a historic Serie A title

After 33 long years, the Scudetto, the coveted Italian championship trophy, is on the brink of returning to Naples.

The southern Italian city is renowned for its ardent football culture, and the prospect of winning the championship has sent the city into a frenzy.

Napoli’s star striker, Victor Osimhen, is one of the key players driving the team’s success this season. With 19 goals in Serie A this season, Osimhen’s exceptional form has been key to Napoli’s success in the Italian top flight.

With an 18-point lead over second-placed Inter Milan, Napoli looks poised to clinch the title. If they do, the celebrations in Naples are likely to be unforgettable.

Football is more than just a game in Naples; it’s a way of life, and winning the Scudetto would be the culmination of a lifelong dream for many in the city.

And Osimhen, often on chill, acknowledges Napoli players are inspired to reward the passion of the city’s football fans.

“That would be absolutely insane,” Osimhen told Sport1 about the reaction of the Neapolitans when the Scudetto dream becomes a reality.

“I’ve been in Europe for six and a half years now. The passion for football, especially here in Naples, is simply indescribable. Neapolitans have football in their blood. We want to give the title to the fans.”

Napoli have been the best team in the country by a considerable distance, with the Luciano Spalletti-tutored side winning 22 and losing only two of their 26 league games.

On Sunday, the league leaders travel to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, where a tough clash against Ola Aina’s Torino awaits them.
