Osimhen’s form dazzles Super Eagles defender Troost-Ekong

Victor Osimhen has scored 21 goals and contributed 5 assists in all competitions for the Parthenopeans this season

Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong, is impressed by his countryman Victor Osimhen’s impressive performance thus far this season.

The Super Eagles attacker has been providing Luciano Spalletti’s team with a fantastic performance owing to his goal-scoring form so far.

The Neapolitan attacker leads Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez by 5 goals as the season’s leading scorer with 19 goals in 22 Serie A league matches.

Following this, his Super Eagles teammate Troost-Ekong ranked him better than the continent, naming him the finest striker in the world.

Speaking to reporters, the Salernitana defender expressed his happiness over Osimhen’s ability to tackle and rise above harsh times (his injury setback).

“Osimhen is probably the best striker in the world right now. I am happy for him because he has overcome difficult moments,” he said.

The 29-year-old returned to the Italian league to join the Granatas in an effort to help his team escape relegation. On the other hand, he believes Osimhen’s Napoli will win the Serie A title this year.

He added: “It’s a very important year for him, he can win the Scudetto, and then he’ll be able to think about the future.”

Troost-Ekong is unlikely to be in Jose Peseiro’s roster as the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau get near, while Osimhen is more likely to make the squad.
