“He had my hair colour” – After Torino brace, Osimhen speaks on kids and dogs wearing his masks

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has shared his thoughts and reactions after Napoli’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Torino, in which he scored two goals.

Speaking to DAZN (as per Tutto Napoli) after the match, Osimhen expressed his delight at the support shown by the Napoli fans, saying, “The fans always support us; it’s nice to have so many here. I was surprised to see so many.”

The victory over Torino was a significant one for Napoli, and Osimhen was quick to acknowledge the quality of their opponents, saying, “It was a good victory against a difficult team. Congratulations to the whole team.”

The Nigerian international has been in excellent form recently. His two goals against Torino took his tally for the season to 21 in Serie A, the most ever of any Nigerian in any of Europe’s top five leagues.

Napoli are currently in first place in Serie A, a massive 19 points ahead of second-place Lazio, and Osimhen believes that the fans’ hopes for a first league title in over 30 years are shared by the players.

“The hopes of the fans are ours too. They have been waiting for a long time; we are happy to be on the right track to winning this prestigious trophy. We must continue like this,” Osimhen said.

Osimhen’s popularity with the Napoli fans has grown significantly in recent months, with the striker becoming something of a cult hero. Fans have been seen wearing masks featuring his likeness, and even dogs have been spotted wearing them.

Osimhen himself is flattered by the attention, saying, “It’s beautiful to perceive love through these gestures, it’s really very special.”

One particularly heartwarming moment from the match came before kick-off, when Osimhen noticed a young Torino fan wearing his mask. “I saw he had my hair colour too, then he put my mask on. I hope to meet him now and take a picture with him,” he said.

Napoli will now turn their attention to their next match, a home game against AC Milan, as they look to continue their impressive recent form and keep up their seemingly unstoppable march towards the title.
