The Super Eagles are condemned to defeat Guinea-Bissau and coach Jose Peseiro has named a strong lineup
Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has made rung some big changes in the Super Eagles’ starting lineup for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers clash against Guinea-Bissau.
The Portuguese tactician has made five changes from the team that lost 1-0 to the Djurtus at the MKO Abiola Stadium on Friday.
West Brom defender Semi Ajayi replaced Kevin Akpoguma in the first leg after the latter sustained a head injury.
Unfortunately, Akpoguma did not travel to Bissau with the team for the second as part of precautionary measures. And Peseiro has chosen Ajayi as his replacement.
Ajayi will be partnered by Kenneth Omeruo who takes Calvin Bassey’s place in the starting XI. Bassey did not inspire much confidence in the first leg, and Omeruo would be looking to produce a much more solid performance.
In the middle of the park, Frank Onyeka replaces Wilfred Ndidi in the starting lineup.
The Super Eagles did not look convincing in the attack last time out, and Peseiro has decided to tweak things.
On the left flank, Peseiro has decided to start Moses Simon instead of Ademola Lookman. The Atalanta man failed to impress in the first leg, and Simon had to replace him at halftime.
The Nantes man had a decent performance, and it is not a surprise that Peseiro has decided to give him a place in the starting XI this time.
Terem Moffi replaces Kelechi Iheanacho who was almost nonexistent in the first leg. Moffi will play just behind Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen, who leads the line.
Nigeria XI: Francis Uzoho; Semi Ajayi, Kenneth Omeruo, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Zaidu Sanusi; Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka; Moses Simon, Terem Moffi, Samuel Chukwueze, Victor Osimhen.
