Goodbye Onuachu! Orban is the new prince of Belgium

Orban has been in spectacular form in recent weeks, and he just seems unstoppable at the moment

Nigerian striker Gift Orban scored a haul for Gent to guide them to a dramatic 6-2 victory against Waregem.

It has been an unbelievable few weeks for Gift Orban. The 20-year-old hitman just joined Gent from Norwegian second league side Stabaek, and he has more than justified his €3.3million price tag.

Orban claimed the best player award and best goal award for January, but he has not stopped. The former Bison FC man was in the starting lineup for Gent’s game at Waregem.

Goals from Julien De Sart and Alessio Castro-Montes gave Gent a two-goal lead. But Timothy Derijck pulled one back for Waregem early in the second half.

It looked like the home side would get back into the tie, but Orban had other ideas. He scored in the 53rd, 68th, 75th, and 83rd to ensure Gent ran out with a comprehensive 6-2 win.

Orban’s goals were amazing. His first was a superb spontaneous strike from inside the box. His second was a wonderful free-kick from distance, and the third was a simple tap-in from inside the box.

He now has seven goals in five Jupiler League appearances for Gent.

With the rate at which he is going, he could achieve greater success than compatriot Paul Onuachu, who scored 79 goals in 115 appearances for Genk before leaving for Southampton in January.
