Orban has been in spectacular form for Gent, but he may pass on the chance to don the green and white
Gent striker Gift Orban may not honour the call-up to Nigeria’s Under-23 team because his cl did not get an invitation letter from the NFF early.
Coach Salisu Yusuf called up 16 foreign-based players ahead of the Dream team VII Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers double header against Guinea in March.
One of the players invited is high-flying Gent striker Orban, who has scored twelve goals in ten games since he joined in January.
However, he may not be part of the team. Oganla Media per BSN reports that Orban may not honour the invite from the NFF. This is because his club did not receive the invitation letter early, and they are yet to reply to the NFF.
If Gent do not reply to the NFF, the 20-year-old attacker may not be able to join the team. And according to BSN, the doors will be shut on any player that does not report to camp by Monday, 20th of July.
Nigeria will host the first leg at Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan on March 22, 2023, before traveling to Guinea for the reverse fixture six days later.
