From NBA to UEFA: Afrobeats star Burna boy set to perform in Champions League final

Nigerian musicians have been breaking boundaries and charting new courses in recent times, and Burna boy is leading that charge

Nigerian artiste Burna boy is set to perform in the final of the UEFA Champions League in Istanbul on the 10th of June.

The Grammy Award winner has been breaking boundaries with his sensational hits in recent years.

He performed at the NBA All-Star Game in Salt Lake City in February alongside Tems and Rema, and he is set to perform at another big event.

The UEFA Champions League have announced that the “Common Person” crooner will perform at the final of this year’s competition.

“Big news!! Burna boy will be performing at the Champions League final in Istanbul alongside another amazing headliner” they wrote on their social media handle.

Burna boy is not the first Nigerian act to perform at a major sports event. Davido performed at the World Cup final in Qatar 2022, and Wizkid also performed at the World Tennis League in Dubai.

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is the only Nigeria that is left in the Champions League this season. He scored two goals to guide Napoli to their first quarterfinal.

Napoli will know their opponents when the draws take place on Friday.
