“FIFA world player of the year material” – Sunday Oliseh hails former Chelsea star

The ex-Chelsea star was considered as the finest striker from Africa ever after taking home a record-tying four African Player of the Year awards following his impressive records

Cameroonian footballer Samuel Etoo was lauded by Super Eagles icon Sunday Oliseh as the best striker to have come from the African continent.

It was a day to rejoice for the Cameroonian football administrator as he rang in another year. The former Super Eagles coach did, however, take some time to praise the former Barcelona striker.

Eto’o had a standout year while he was active, playing for teams in Italy, England, Spain, and even Turkey.

In 727 games throughout his club career, the 42-year-old scored 363 goals overall and contributed 117 assists. And as well made 56 goals for his nation in 118 appearances.

Meanwhile, the Cameroonian hero led his nation to Olympic Gold in 1999–2000, Champions League victories with Inter Milan and Barcelona, as well as one FIFA Club World Cup victory.

In response to a post on his birthday and footballing accomplishments, the Nigerian great claimed that the all-time leading goalscorer for RCD Mallorca was Ballon d’Or calibre.

“Arguably The Best Striker to come out of Africa!! He Was Ballon d’Or and FIFA World Player of the year material! Chapeaux” Oliseh wrote.

He has scored 56 goals in 118 appearances for Cameroon, ranking him the third most capped player in the nation’s history. He also holds the record for most goals scored at the Africa Cup of Nations, with 18, and is the all-time top scorer for Cameroon.
