After being injured since September, Super Eagles striker takes major step towards recovery

The Nigeria international started brightly in the Spanish top flight before injury hampered his plans

Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq has taken a major step towards recovering from and returning to competitive action for club and country.

The former Almeria star was spotted undergoing rehabilitation at Real Sociedad’s Zubieta training ground in Spain.

It will be recalled that the 24-year-old forward suffered a terrible injury in September, which has kept him out of action for the past few months.

Sadiq joined Real Sociedad from Almeria in the summer of 2022 and had shown glimpses of his potential during his time with the club. His injury came at a difficult time for the team, as they were hoping to build on their strong start to the season.

Despite the setback, Umar has remained positive and committed to his recovery, working closely with the team’s physiotherapists.

In a video released by Real Sociedad on their social media channels, Sadiq was seen doing all sorts of exercises in the gym to strengthen the right knee, in which he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Real Sociedad will be hoping for Umar’s speedy return to action, as the team has struggled for goals in recent games. With just one win in their last five games, the team’s lack of cutting-edge has been a cause for concern.

Umar’s return to the pitch will significantly boost Real Sociedad’s push for a top-four finish in La Liga.

With the team already through to the knockout stages of the Europa League, the Nigerian striker’s pace, power, and aerial ability could provide the team with a different dimension in attack.
