AFCON 2023: Flying Eagles coach Bosso credits “five Nigerian coaches” for recent triumphs

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria recently progressed to the semi-final of the AFCON competition despite their opening match loss to the Young Lions of Teranga

The head coach of the Flying Eagles, Ladan Bosso, gave gratitude to his home-grown colleague for his team’s triumph in the African Cup of Nations.

The Nigerian under-20 team kept up its great performance at the AFCON 2023 competition by defeating the Ugandan Hippos to go on to the next round of the competition.

Nonetheless, the former manager of Adamawa United has lifted his hat to five Nigerian coaches at home for the team’s performance so far.

Bosso, the chairman of the Nigerian Coaches Association, informed reporters that he had the support of all the association’s members, which encompass other coaches.

“Today we achieved our first target, which is to qualify for the World Cup and that was achieved together but most importantly back home being the president of the Nigerian Coaches Association the Nigerian coaches are solidly behind me,” he said as cited by CAFonline.

The Nigerian u-20 team may not have had a strong match debut in the 17th edition of the biennial African international youth football tournament.

Even so, they were able to bounce back by overcoming Egypt, a four-time champion, Mozambique, a second debutant, and the tenacious Ugandans.

The coach went on to say that the Nigerian coaches help him assess his opponents’ strategies, and he gives them credit for the team’s success in the tournament.

“I have almost five coaches back home who are studying the opponents in the tournament, and they send it to me to work on them, so I dedicate this qualification to the Nigerian coaches,” he explained further.

The seven-time champions will face Gambia in the semi-final after the latter’s 5–0 demolition of South Sudan.
