Ademola Lookman: Why Nigerian forward sits eighth in Serie A’s top 20 after 26 league days

Ademola Lookman left RB Leipzig to join Atalanta last summer and has since made 25 appearances while tallying 12 league goals

Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, has fallen below his countryman, Victor Osimhen, in the Serie A top 20 after 26 days.

The Nigerian attacker is ranked eighth on the list of the top 20 Serie A players by Tutto Atalanta, with a rating of 6.46.

in the chart, Super Eagles talisman, Osimhen, leads the leaderboard with 7.18 ratings, followed by his Napoli teammate, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (6.93), and AS Roma attacker Paulo Dybala, who comes in third with 6.63.

After scoring the last goal in their win against Sampdoria at home, the former Leicester City player has not been at his best ever for Atalanta.

Even though the club as a whole has had a rough stretch during their previous seven games, the 25-year-old has failed to score for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.

Meanwhile, he was expected to start for the Oribici against Osimhen’s Napoli, but the Nigerian forward could only play for two minutes in their defeat.

In his 25 domestic league games with the Nerazzurri, the Super Eagles forward, who left RB Leipzig for the Italian side, has scored 12 goals and contributed 5 assists.

Yet, his seven-game goal drought may have played a significant role in his fall in the top 20 in Serie A during the last 26 league days.

The Nigerian, who played for only two minutes in Atalanta’s most recent matches, is anticipated to break out of his slump when Atalanta hosts Empoli at the Gewiss Stadium.
