Watch: What Super Eagles star Awoniyi, was spotted doing during Forest’s draw against Manchester City

The Forest player Taiwo Awoniyi has been absent from the team for more than a month after suffering an injury during their triumph against Southampton.

The Nigerian international Taiwo Awoniyi may not be playing for Steve Cooper’s team at the moment, owing to an injury, but he has been fantastic in his commitment to Nottingham Forest ever since the setback.

The Super Eagles attacker was pulled out of the Forest’s away triumph over Southampton after scoring the game’s lone and decisive goal due to a groin injury, as Soccernet.ng previously reported.

He thus missed the Tricky Trees’ encounter against Manchester City at the City Ground, his ninth overall in the campaign.

After a remarkable draw against Pep Guardiola’s men, the Nigerian player was seen cheering his colleagues from the sidelines during the match.

Once Bernardo Silva pulled the trigger and sent a spectacular shot from beyond the box past their January signing Keylor Navas, the Cityzens seemed to be the more likely winners of the match.

After that, the whole Forests team fell quiet, and not even the ineffective Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis was able to intervene and salvage the day.

Yet with a few minutes remaining in the game, Chris Wood, Forest’s January addition, gave Steve Cooper a hint of relief after scoring on a feed from Morgan Gibbs-White. This came after Man City’s wasted opportunities during the game.

Awoniyi could be seen supporting his teammate from the stands in a video that was posted on Nottingham Forest’s social media account at 7:45 and at 8:43 in the video, he was captured celebrating their 1-1 tie against City.

Watch the video here:

According to a recent report by soccernet.ng, The Super Eagles star’s return date is unknown, but Cooper believes he is making solid progress.
