“Two game changers”- Liverpool Legend lays into Iheanacho and Maddison’s performance following Leicester’s victory

Iheanacho’s Leicester city overcame Antonio Conte’s team at King Power Stadium to extend their winning run to three games.

Former England international Danny Murphy praised Nigerian star Kelechi Iheanacho and his colleague James Maddison for their performances in their win against Tottenham Hotspur.

The 45-year-old declared that without Iheanacho and Maddison, the Foxes would not have been able to recover from being down to win with four goals for the second successive game.

The Super Eagles star featured once again for the Foxes as they extended their winning run to three games across all competitions.

Following Leicester’s rout of Tottenham at the King Power Stadium, the former Manchester City attacker once again found the back of the net for Brendan Rodgers’ team, scoring a goal and dishing out one assists.

Soon after Rodrigo Bentancur’s goal was canceled by Nampalys Mendy, Wout Faes’ tackle on Harry Kane at midfield bounced into the path of Kelechi Iheanacho, who then set up James Maddison for the goal.

Iheanacho scored Leicester’s third goal before halftime by firing a shot into the bottom corner while being contested by Spurs defender Eric Dier.

Harvey Barnes’ goal was called back for offside by the video assistance referee, but Spurs didn’t take the lesson to heart, and 10 minutes later, the winger tucked in a fourth from Maddison’s ball.

Regarding the Super Eagles forward’s and Three Lions star’s brilliant performances on Saturday night’s show, Murphy praised their consistency.

“But the two game changers in the ruthless end of the pitch were Maddison and Iheanacho. They absolutely tore Tottenham’s defence to bits. Now we know Iheanacho is a good player, it’s his consistency, running the team. He started the game with a real intensity, a real tenacity, as they all did actually.” he said via Match of the day.

The former Fulham player added: “The great thing about today was Maddison playing as a ten. He had two wide men which helped him. He was always close to Iheanacho. His confidence was growing. They were all getting on the ball, enjoying themselves. Loads of space, not the Tottenham we’ve seen in recent weeks.

After the triumph, the 26-year-old scored his 40th Premier League goal and was named the game’s Man of the match.
