Serie A names red-hot Super Eagles star the POTM for January

The Super Eagles forward has been impressive for his club this season, leading the Serie A scoring chart with 17 goals, 5 goals ahead of Ademola Lookman.

Nigerian International and Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, has been named Serie A Player of the month for January.

The Super Eagles attacker’s outstanding showing for the Partenopeans since the start of the post-World Cup matches earned him the accolade of the best player for the month.

The Nigerian scored five goals in Italian topflight in January alone, including a brace against Juventus, and providing an assist the same month.

He scored in every Serie A league encounter throughout the month of January, with the exception of Napoli’s opening game in the new year against Inter Milan.

However, the Serie League presented him with the honour during Napoli’s away game against Cremona, while they also made the announcement on their social media platforms.

“The MVP of the month 🙌

Victor Osimhen receiving his #POTM award 👏” wrote the league.

After the Gli Azzurri’s victory against Cremonese, Osimhen upped his goal total to 17 goals in 18 domestic league matches and 18 goals overall.

Following that, he becomes the first Napoli player since Gonzalo Higuain in 2015–16 to score in six consecutive Serie A games.
